Leaving Vancouver Blues

vancouver 2He sits silent on the Greyhound
As it slowly moves Downtown
The past is close behind him
Treading on his shoes
His mind is filled with emptiness
Leaving Vancouver Blues

He sits pensive on the Greyhound
As it travels south at speed
The past is left behind him
Dirt falling from his shoes
His soul crowded with loneliness
Leaving Vancouver Blues

Some places leave a mark on you
Some people do that too
Some places you have never been
Some you want to go back to
Some people you have never seen
Some people that you miss
Some people you might think about
Your mind will not dismiss

A fleeting thought an untouched hand
No words no might have been
The past is far behind him
Like laces from his shoes
His heart is choked with nothingness
Leaving Vancouver Blues

    AnElephant’s vagabond shoes
Travel far and wide seeking beauty
    making sweet memories
    but giving him the blues.
    Cool cats often have those…
    That’s the entrance fee
    For living free
    And marching to the sound
    Of your own heart beat.
    Emmy liked the greyhound;
This ride was quite a treat.

Your way with words never fails to amaze and impress me. This could be a song so easily. From your other posts I know Vancouver B.C. was a joy for you so I’m going to chalk this one up to the spirit of artistry that resides in Vancouver. It’s muse captured you too! This is great! 🙂

  6. You can take the Elephant out of Vancouver… but can’t take the Vancouver out of the Elephant! It’ll always be a part of you and a place you can return to, and I’m sure Vancouver would welcome such a fine pachyderm again and again 🙂
