Dr Seuss – Geneuss

The Turtle-Necked Sea Turtle and the Flaming Herring

The Turtle-Necked Sea Turtle and the Flaming Herring

AnElephantCant hide his excitefulness
Today in sunny San Francisco
With no inhibition
He attends an exhibition
Of his very most favouritest Super Hero

Now this chap cannot fly like Superman
He does not hang out in a Bat Cave
He has the power of laughter
There is no one dafter
He is the Genius of Misbehave

Today is the 109th birthday
Of the Cool Cat Theodore Seuss Geisel
This artist extraordinary
Wrote tales of high quality
He could improvise much and disguise all

He writes of How the Grinch Stole Christmas
And everyone is upset about that
But smartest of all
So cool and so tall
Is the incredible Cat in a Hat

He also writes stories of AnElephant
Although his is never to be forgotten
You just have to see
Him sit up a tree
And you know you will always love Horton

AnElephant gives both his readers good advice
And for once he is not being obtuse
Give yourself a wee treat
Make boredom obsolete
And go look at the creations of Dr Seuss

Had a chance to read this again after it was a related post on your Haibun. Nearly a year since you were here, and I imagine the awesomeness of it will stay with you until you reach 109 and beyond – or 110 this year

“As far as children’s literature is concerned, he is Shakespeare and Picasso combined.” Yes!!! And I would dare to venture to add you to that list…even if you argue with me about it! 😉 Hugs!!

  4. Dr. Seuss… a right of passage for every child to have experienced it. I think somehow you are kin to that, to have that childlike innocence inside of you to be able to write the things you do. Thank you for your gifts that you offer us.

    Thank you AnElephant
    For sharing your merriment
    The cool cat is fun
    So is big hearted Horton
    Could it be that misbehaviour
Is the greater part of valour?
    Emmy wonders
    As she plays with feathers.
