Waiting – Friday Fictioneers

Friday Fictioneers

AnElephantCant make a rhyme this week
And his story has double the words
So you can poo poo him
You can even sue him
Or just read every second verse

The idea is to write a very short story, circa 100 words, based on a picture prompt (below).
That’s it.

There are nearly a thousand Tupperware things
I’ve no idea what they are for
There are pins and clips and bottles of stuff
That never get used any more

There is coffee and milk and sugar and tea
There is Vodka and there’s Irn Bru
I never drink any of these bittersweet things
They just sit here waiting for you

There are snacks in the freezer and up on the shelf
I could mix them into a sad stew
There are packets and cartons and tins of strange things
That sit here just waiting for you

Then there’s me and my face and my brain and my smile
And my eyes that grow daily more blue
There’s my heart and my soul and my life and my love
Just sitting, just waiting for you

There’s a pillow on the bed that always stays clean
There is a TV that doesn’t get watched
There are lamps that remain forever unlit
Isn’t it sad when a life has been botched

There’s a man going off to a place far away
Where he knows he will never see you
There are tears running down an old crumpled face
There’s a heart that is broken in two

About AnElephantCant

An artist/writer/poet combination whose blogs reflect an approach to life that celebrates nature and takes a tongue-in-cheek view of most issues. So you get rhymes and doodles, photographs and comment. Irreverent and irrelevant. Occasionally funny, sometimes serious, mostly pointless. https://anelephantcant.me/

    • AnElephantCant rhyme
      He says time after time
      But please no more tears
      It only appears
      That things have got worse
But it is just a verse
      He is glad you enjoyed
      The approach he employed

My thought goes to a parent, a father perhaps, watching his son go off to war.
I really enjoy your way of telling stories in verse.

Thank you for your visit. Wipe away those tears on your lovely face –
You are admired by many and me too. So hard to take the fiction away from the author.

On April first I am putting a series of ELFantasy, acrostic Elfje all together on my blog spot place here:

AnElephant always writes with so much panache! Weaving words in a rhythmic way that always pulls me in…be it whimsy or the more serious side…Yes… I am happy to once again be visiting my favorite Elephant (even if he can’t count to 100 😉 )!! Hugs ~

    • When lovely Christina comes and flatters
AnElephant likes to answer in rhyme
      But she says his arithmetic
      Is somewhat pathetic
So he counts his blessings and responds with a mime

Once again I must agree with another
    Yes, Emmy expresses it best
    It’s written so well
    This story you tell
Not too many at all with the rest! (of the words, lol)

Good rhythm and rhyme and you’ve successfully captured the emotions of the speaker. Nice.

There are beautiful things that need no words at all
There are others that need a few
Sometimes a beautiful story needs all the words it takes to tell it.
Thank you AnElephant for breaking the rules.

    AnElephant’s not bound to sense.
His FF must’ve made him tense.
    His introductory non-rhyme,
    While apropos at the time,
Fit the mood at silly’s expense!

Or not. It does amplify the effect of the short story. 🙂

AnElephant has written another great F.F
He went over the 100 but we can see why
    The poor little lad
    Is ever so sad
In a story that can easily make you cry
