Ostricher or Poorer

Ostrich by Carol ina Sartor

Ostrich by Carol ina Sartor

AnElephantCant help wondering about ostriches
You know the thing that he can’t understand
When they feel in peril
They don’t head for that there hill
They stand still and stick their heads in the sand*

AnElephant knows some people who also do this
They don’t want to face up to the truth
They prefer to pretend
It will never happen
But AnElephant is too long in the tooth

The ostrich is quite an odd looking beastie
Though AnElephantCant say it looks daft
It kinda has claws
It nearly looks like a cross
Between a funky chicken and a spindly legged giraffe

Its eyes are just stuck on like saucers
Its beak is the size of a small aeroplane
Its neck is too long
Like a Barry Manilow song
And its feathers may one day be in fashion again

It lives somewhere on the wild plains of Africa
It is probably a marvel of natural science
AnElephant has concern
He feels he must learn
If it has enough drumsticks for a whole family of lions

But as AnElephant says at the start here
He is confused and perhaps also bemused
He is open to suggestion
So here is his question
If there are ostriches then what’s the point of emus

AnElephant is very aware that this is not, in fact, what ostriches do, but he has never been known to spoil a silly rhyme for the sake of veracity!

About AnElephantCant

Peu importe ton sujet, tu es toujours amusant
et tu dis des choses vraies en riant
    et un peu obliquement.
    Normal pour UnElephant. 🙂

This made me laugh! Ostrich was one of my nicknames when I was a child due to my long skinny legs and long neck! You’ve started my day with a smile.
