The Cat, the Pigeon and the Porcupine – Sunday Photo Fiction

AnElephantCant resist playing to AnAudience
When he last writes a 3-parter folk love it
He sees Al’s photo of a wire
Sets his sights a bit higher
On a balcony quite far above it

This is a weekly invitation to write a short piece of fiction (c. 150 words) based on a photo prompt (below) provided by Alastair.
Just click on the link to see some more sensible solutions to this week’s excellent prompt.
But please be kind and read AnElephant’s dramatic drivel first.

The Cat
I can catch it, I know I can.
Only last week I caught his brother, or maybe it was her sister, it’s hard to tell with pigeons.
It is tricky when they sit on that rail, not much room for error, but I am fast as a …..
A what?
Nothing is as fast as I am!
Now!
Got it!
Oops, a bit far, and it’s a long way down.
But I caught it and I am a cat.
I always land on my feet.
Oh, that means I have to let go.
Nice tennis shoes.
Uh oh, that looks like a porcupine.
Just as well I have 9 lives!

The Pigeon
There it is, that feline horror that caught my little brother last week.
I am going to get him.
Or is it her?
It’s hard to tell with cats.
It thinks I am dumb, can’t see it sneaking across there.
But who is dumb?
We are 100 feet up and it can’t fly, can it?
Oops!
Gosh, it is faster than I thought, we are going down together.
Ha ha!
It had to let go to land, I am free and clear.
Nice tennis shoes.
Uh oh, is that a sparrow hawk?

The Porcupine
Really?
That must be eight or nine times now.
Looks like I need another bath.
And I don’t care about tennis shoes.

Haha! Love the different viewpoints, especially that of the porcupine. It’s fun that all notice the tennis shoes through the aerial ballet. A very fun story!

    • AnElephant at least tries to pay lip service to Al’s excellent prompts.
The porcupine’s lines were rewritten several times, as the original version could not appear on a family-friendly blog!
Thanks for your comments, Sir Aye.

Fantastic HAHA. I love that. The view from three different sides again. It is very clever. That poor innocent porcupine 🙂
