the pillow collapsing

nightmares everlasting by anelephantcant

nightmares everlasting by anelephantcant

he dreams of the pillow collapsing
he dreams it is hollow inside
he dreams of the woman who left him
when he wakens he knows why he cried

when he wakens he knows why he cried
he wants to dream less but does not know how
his life is confused and inverted
he always dreams that he is awake now

he always dreams that he is awake now
he believes what his pain is revealing
he tries to push the old memories away
he stares at the ghosts on the ceiling

he stares at the ghosts on the ceiling
already in dread of tomorrow
another day to spend not quite alone
enshrined in multiple layers of sorrow

enshrined in multiple layers of sorrow
his nightmares appear everlasting
once more he flees from his heart-broken thoughts
he dreams of the pillow collapsing

Fantastically intense – I like the structure and repetition – it lends strength to the words, which in and of themselves, are bold.

    Brilliant!
