when I loved you I brought you here
where I found tranquillity and peace
where at last my soul found rest
I hoped your pain too would cease

where once the sounds of nature’s world
caused my sad heart to rejoice
the songs of birds are now unheard
my ears crave just your voice

and so it seems I must remain
stumbling blindly round this place
although I now don’t see the sea
only tears and your lost face

for there is but the flowers’ scent
the odour of tree and grass
to remind me of those long gone days
and things all too quickly passed

About AnElephantCant

An artist/writer/poet combination whose blogs reflect an approach to life that celebrates nature and takes a tongue-in-cheek view of most issues. So you get rhymes and doodles, photographs and comment. Irreverent and irrelevant. Occasionally funny, sometimes serious, mostly pointless. https://anelephantcant.me/
