if I can

Ear Phones Recommended:

if I can build a time machine
my destination will be clear
I’ll go back to the day we met
relive that magical first year

if I can find a treasure map
to guide me on my stumbling way
I know that X will mark the spot
where I kissed your lips that perfect day

if I can dream a dream of love
to help me through the darkest night
I’ll gaze into your laughing eyes
from sweet dusk to morning light

if I can find a pen I’ll write
romantic words I cannot speak
and pray that you will find the time
to read the poem I post each week

if I can find a deep dark pit
I will happily fall in it
if you will lead me to the edge
and hold my hand for just a minute

if I can find a witch doctor
with magic spells and charms
I’ll trade my heart my life my soul
for one last second in your arms

About AnElephantCant

An artist/writer/poet combination whose blogs reflect an approach to life that celebrates nature and takes a tongue-in-cheek view of most issues. So you get rhymes and doodles, photographs and comment. Irreverent and irrelevant. Occasionally funny, sometimes serious, mostly pointless. https://anelephantcant.me/

Your tender words left a lump in my throat the size of Texas. My vocabulary limits my comment.
    Excellent.
