different

the same dawn by anelephantcant

the same dawn by anelephantcant

the poet cannot understand what is different
when everything appears to be just the same
the same place the same time
the same hopeless wee rhyme
he plays the same rules and the same futile game

the poet cannot understand what is different
he does the same things he always has done
writes the occasional poem
hides himself in his home
and pretends he is still having fun

the poet cannot understand what is different
the same sun still comes up every day
it still hangs around
behind the same heavy dark cloud
while he stumbles in the same disarray

the poet cannot understand what is different
each night is as dark as before
with the same lack of light
to alleviate the fright
as he waits for the same dawn to ignore

the poet cannot understand what is different
life has the same smells and all the same tastes
he walks in the same rain
but he feels different pain
it is not the same life he must face

the poet now understands what is different
he lives in a whole different world
with a quite different view
with no indifferent you
the poet has lost his beautiful girl

About AnElephantCant

An artist/writer/poet combination whose blogs reflect an approach to life that celebrates nature and takes a tongue-in-cheek view of most issues. So you get rhymes and doodles, photographs and comment. Irreverent and irrelevant. Occasionally funny, sometimes serious, mostly pointless. https://anelephantcant.me/

An elephant can always strike deeply in to my heart. Such a sad poet. He needs hugs. Well done. .
