victims

the boys circle the pretty girls
it is always nature’s way
I observe them preening awkwardly
preparing what to say

I see again my friend in bed
I thought I’d recognise him
the illness causes drastic change
his youthfulness surprising

the elephant moves closer to the fence
and with its trunk finesses
her face and hand are gently stroked
by the softest of caresses

the youngster throws a tantrum
marches angrily ahead
the father reacts badly
you are going straight to bed

I grimace now my ribs still sore
from being assaulted by the mail-man
the boys move on selected prey
before their nerves can fail them

the dance of life must never change
it goes on ceaselessly
I drift towards my shadowed lair
before anyone can see me

About AnElephantCant

An artist/writer/poet combination whose blogs reflect an approach to life that celebrates nature and takes a tongue-in-cheek view of most issues. So you get rhymes and doodles, photographs and comment. Irreverent and irrelevant. Occasionally funny, sometimes serious, mostly pointless. https://anelephantcant.me/

  1. Wonderful, of course! Thank you.
I was wondering what method you use (programs, etc…) to get your voice into WP. I downloaded a free program and got my voice into form, but it is not acceptable to WP.
