the skyline melts

the skyline melts by anelephantcant

Click here to hear the poet read his words:

the skyline melts

the sky over the Med is blue but dull
knowing that evening will be here soon
the clouds race out on eastbound winds
and pass behind the too pale moon

the gentle beach is softly lapped by waves
like a princess by palm fronds fanned
the confused surf with low bowed head
disappears shyly ‘neath the sand

the air is sharp with cries of lonesome gulls
as they head towards the rock-faced cape
the skyline quivers slowly melts
as it forgets its daylight shape

her painful truth collapses my blind heart
my wild haired lover does not want me
memories squirm and slip through nerveless hands
black clad ghosts to always haunt me
