the last time

the last time by anelephantcant

Click here to hear the poet read his words:

the last time

I remember when you held my hand
when you gripped it and never let go
your fingers intertwined in mine
telling me all that I needed to know

I remember when I kissed you
I remember the taste of your lips
how our bodies pressed together
and my hands caressed your hips
but I don’t remember the last time

I remember when you smiled at me
and the love light that shone from your eyes
offering everything you had to give
you promised the ultimate prize

I remember when you talked to me
when your words were sweetly seductive
when I believed every whisper in my ear
because doubt would be foolishly destructive
but I don’t remember the last time

in fact
I remember everything
except the last time

About AnElephantCant

An artist/writer/poet combination whose blogs reflect an approach to life that celebrates nature and takes a tongue-in-cheek view of most issues. So you get rhymes and doodles, photographs and comment. Irreverent and irrelevant. Occasionally funny, sometimes serious, mostly pointless. https://anelephantcant.me/
