inferno by phil burns

Click here to hear the poet read his words:

I feel that spark the first time I see her
on a dark icy cold winter’s night
the January gloom dissipates now
her smile is as bright as daylight

the flames warm my heart without warning
I am never the fall in love kind
but the look in her eyes sends me reeling
in an instant I know she’ll blow my mind

the fire she lights overwhelms me
never before has my life been so good
but I overlook one tiny factor
a furnace devours so much wood

the inferno lasts only a short time
the passion burns out in a flash
her radiance like a glorious sunset
leaves me discarded in a grate full of ash

About AnElephantCant

An artist/writer/poet combination whose blogs reflect an approach to life that celebrates nature and takes a tongue-in-cheek view of most issues. So you get rhymes and doodles, photographs and comment. Irreverent and irrelevant. Occasionally funny, sometimes serious, mostly pointless.
